6 Ways to Make An Extra Dollar or Two Online

Money under the mouse 1

What if I told you that with only a few clicks of your mouse, you could earn money online that can be used for a nice gift or even to pay for expenses? The idea of earning money online from the comforts of your couch (or bed) is tempting to college students such as myself. With these simple yet effective methods, you'll be earning money in no time.

1. Surveys

Companies are always looking for valuable input on their products and marketing, so marketing researchers set up online surveys to gather this information. This means you can go online and make money just by giving your opinions on products and brands you already use and like. One of the best programs to do surveys is through Swagbucks. They have a variety of surveys for you to take and get rewarded through their swagbucks currency which can be used to redeem gift cards and other cool rewards. You can also complete new and exciting offers to get rewarded. They'll even give you $3 if you sign up through this link. Another survey provider I personally enjoy is Qmee, which will give you money for completing various surveys which can be cashed for Paypal or Visa gift cards.

2. Phone Apps

Sometimes, the best way to make money is by not putting any effort into it. With Mobile Performance Meter, it's easy to make money just by leaving the app running on your phone. As long as you have an internet connection, you will be rewarded every day and every month can fill out a short survey for an extra half a dollar. You can choose gift cards from dozens of retailers like Amazon, to redeem your points. Another app that takes advantage of your phone habits is Slidejoy, which rewards you every time you swipe on your lock screen to get into your phone. You can then use the currency "carats" to redeem Paypal or Visa gift cards which are sent directly to you.

3. Microtasking

If you have a lot of time on your hands, you can try to take a crack at micro tasking, which breaks up a large job into many smaller pieces for people to do online. Amazon Mechanical Turk is one of the largest online microtasking websites online and one that I have used in the past. When you find an interesting task, you can accept it and work on it. When you are done, your account will be credited, and the rewards can be transferred into your Amazon account.
CrowdSource is another reputable site for microtasking that transfers your earnings into Paypal.

4. Selling Online

If you have unused stuff lying around the house taking space in the closet or on the shelf, there is potential for money to be made. Ebay allows you to list almost anything to sell with only a small fee, allowing you to translate an unused item into money. Once you sell many items, you seller reputation increases and your posts will appear ahead of others. Craigslist is another website to sell your unused items and you can deal with the buyer directly.

5. Search Engines

For something that most people do on a regular basis everyday at work, school, or home, why not earn money for searching on the internet? If you search through Bing and sign in, you can collect points on every search and spend those points on gift cards. They even have small quizzes and promotions that you can do to earn more points. Another engine to check out is through Swagbucks, which will reward you for just normally searching on the web. Qmee is another program to check out; they show you related links after you search and you are rewarded for checking those links out.

6. Cryptotab

One of my personal favorite ways to earn money is through Cryptotab, which is a browser that earns you rewards in the form of Bitcoin just for using it. It acts like any other browser and you can cash out your bitcoin to a wallet very easily. You can install the browser easily through this link.

Simple and easy earnings are always hard to come by especially in college, so these methods will have you earning money with little time and large rewards.

Some of us even have part-time jobs and have a small stream of income to keep ourselves afloat in college. However, amidst this whirlwind, it may be hard to find time to check your spending habits or even think how you are going to set yourself up for financial success once you are out of college. When you go out for shopping, usually the receipts you get at the end of your purchases go straight to the garbage, never to be seen again. Even if you keep them to return an item to the store they're more of a hassle to keep in your purse than a useful item. What if I told you that those pesky receipts could actually earn you money just by taking a picture of them? With these two free and simple apps, you'll put those old receipts to work in no time. Receipt Hog One of my personal favorite apps for receipt earning, Receipt Hog gives you points back just by uploading a picture of any shopping receipt you have and answering between one to three simple easy questions. Savings and Checking Accounts in College

Some of the most fundamentals aspects of personal finance are savings and checking accounts at the local bank; however, a lot of college students don't really know how to utilize them properly or even how different rates can affect their money. Knowing these differences can save you a whole lot in the long term. Checking vs. Savings These two types of accounts are the most common in local banks. A checking account is used to pay off everyday purchases and is typically linked to a credit card while a savings account is used to save and grow money over time. Savings account will generally have higher interest rates than checking accounts and savings are one of the most liquid assets you can have, meaning it is very easy to convert money in the savings account to other forms of money such as cash and bonds. Different Interest Rates Different banks offer different interest rates for savings and checking accounts, and being aware of it can help you optimize your finances. The ...
